Stainless steel pipe permissible stress on the impact of wall thickness

2023-11-08
The permissible stress of stainless steel pipe is the value obtained by dividing the strength index of Stainless Steel Pipe material by the corresponding safety factor. Stainless steel pipe mechanical property indicators are yield limit, strength limit, creep limit, fatigue limit, etc. These indicators reflect the limit values of failure in different states. In order to ensure the reliable strength of stainless steel pipe operation, the stress in the pipe element is often limited to a certain value under each strength index, the value is the permissible stress. When the stress in the pipe element exceeds its permissible stress value, it is considered that its strength can not be guaranteed. Therefore, the permissible stress of stainless steel pipe material is to determine the basic parameters of stainless steel pipe wall thickness level.

Different design standards, the permissible stress value of the selected material is different. For pressure piping, the domestic design standard is GB150 "steel pressure vessel" to determine the permissible stress value, ASTM material is taken according to ANSI B31.3 "Process Piping" standard to determine the permissible stress value.
